Why did I decide to take a cruise? I am not a cruise person. I am not the type of person who wears shorts. I like the smell of sunscreen but I am not the type of person who likes to apply sunscreen to themselves. I am out of my environment. We are all out of our environment. We are out on the open ocean, hundreds of miles from any land. This is not natural.

The sun shines down upon me as I sit next to the pool on the ship. The thought of pools on ships always had intrigued me, the beauty of a body of water travelling on another body of water apparent to my mind. However here as I lay staring over the endless blue expanse on the top level of the 4th level sun deck of “The Tranquil Serenity” cruise liner, the beauty is lost on me, as I now simply long for the horizon to move quicker. Get us off these swilling oceans. I am deathly hungover and with every motion of the ocean I ponder upon why I spent $500+ some more on a boat which would cause me such pain. I feel a sensation creeping into me. My vomit escapes. It splashes against the stained wood of the sundeck and begins baking in the sun. I lean back into a state of tranquil serenity.

A scream breaks the peace of the moment.

“HELP!! HEEEEEELP! HES GONE OVERBOARD!”
